Would you recommend this book to someone, why or why not?
I would highly recommend this book. The story has an important message around books being banned, which is highly relevant these days. I would recommend it to people of all ages, not just kids.

How did the author keep you interested throughout the story?
Going into this book, I did not know that it was about book banning and censorship. As soon as I realized that, I was eager to see how the story would progress and how the author would handle the topic of book banning, which she did very well in my opinion. I was also quite fond of the illustrations by Andrew Joyner. I found the illustrations reminiscent of Richard Scarry's. I liked the classic feel to them.

How did this book challenge or change your perspective or opinion on something?
This book did not challenge or change my perspective on anything as I already believe that everyone should have the freedom to read.

How does this book compare to other books by the same author or in the same genre?
I have not read any of Beth Ferry's other picture books, but I would like to after reading this book.

Who was your favourite character and why?
My favourite characters were the library lions and the people who stood up for the freedom to read because they saw an injustice and did something about it.

Who was the character you disagreed with the most, and why?
The character I disagreed with the most was the mayor because he was the one who was censoring and banning books in the library.

How did you feel about the ending? Was it satisfying or did you want more?
I liked the ending. Everything wrapped up well and it was a happy ending for the library. The author included a note at the end about how readers can "ROAR" for their libraries: Recognize, Organize, Act, and Respect, with suggestions of what they can do to help.
