Chronicles of Nick Book 1

Reviewed by Chloë, age 13

In this book, we have a boy named Nick.  His family is just him and his mom.  Nick is a normal 14 year boy old that is very poor, so he tried to help his mother by doing illegal activities to get extra money.  Nick's friends wanted to rob an elderly couple but Nick did not think this was humane so he saved the couple instead. The bad kids got mad and decided to kill Nick but because of his good deed, a supernatural being decided to save him.  To make up for being saved, Nick, in return, had to do chores for the Dark Hunter.  In the meantime, a kid the same age as Nick was getting picked on, so Nick made a video game to make the other kids respect him.  It ended up turning the kids into living zombies.  Nick finds out later that he has supernatural powers himself.  Will Nick save the world, or will it fall down in ashes?

I liked the clever remarks that Nick came up with. The author used very descriptive words in the book that made me feel like I was there.  Sometimes the book seemed a little horrific, but that's what made it interesting.
