Would you recommend this book to someone, why or why not?
If you like quirky novels about modern day people using ancient magic, this is for you. I would highly recommend it because the characters and relationships are real, flaws and all.

How did the author keep you interested throughout the story?
The story-telling moved very quickly from situation to situation without being messy or confusing. Watching this crew of new magicians find another world was real and they could be part of it was a lot of fun. It was like watching a potential bad accident waiting to happen...you just couldn't stop reading.

How did this book challenge or change your perspective or opinion on something?
It made me think about how different cultures view the creation and existence of our own world.

How does this book compare to other books by the same author or in the same genre?
This book is hilariously irreverent at times and then deadly serious. A strange combination that you don't find in many novels of this type.

Who was your favourite character and why?
Quentin Coldwater, the main character, was my favorite person in this book. His life choices touched and influenced so many others along the way,  both good and bad. He often didn't realize how his actions could affect so many people.

Who was the character you disagreed with the most, and why?
Martin. Say no more or it will give away the story.

How did you feel about the ending? Was it satisfying or did you want more?
I did want more at the ending of this book. Lucky for me that it is volume one of a series. Two more to go!
