Would you recommend this book to someone, why or why not?
I would absolutely recommend this book, it is full of magic and wonder, mystery and intrigue, as well as twists and turns that you won't expect!

How did the author keep you interested throughout the story?
There is a competition afoot that the players do not know about, and the anticipation to see who wins - or if someone finds out - keeps you guessing!

How did this book challenge or change your perspective or opinion on something?
The ending has a surprise I was not expecting, and it came with a sacrifice that had me thinking about whether it was the right decision or not.

How does this book compare to other books by the same author or in the same genre?
This is the author's first book, and I have also read her second one, The Starless Sea, which is quite hard to follow at times, but also contains a magical world of wonder just beyond what the average eye can see.  I have read both of these books multiple times and listened to the audio books.

Who was your favourite character and why?
It was hard to pick a favourite character for this one, of course I love Celia and Marco, but Bailey as well.  These three have so much heart and the yearning for the things, or people, they love is contagious!

Who was the character you disagreed with the most, and why?
I liked Hector Bowen the least, due to his treatment of Celia as a child, and then onward into adulthood.

How did you feel about the ending? Was it satisfying or did you want more?
The ending was very pleasing indeed, I immediately had to check if there was a sequel (there is not), and what else this author had written (my first time through this was the only novel she had written).
