Adult Fiction
Darynda Jones is one of my favorite authors. I had previously read her Charley Davidson series, which is where I got to know her. She is now working on a new series, Sunshine Vicram.
Darynda loves a strong female lead character and she creates them well. A Bad Day for Sunshine starts with Sunshine returning to her home town, with her daughter, to a new job that she isn't quite sure how she even got (insert meddling parents here!). As the town's newly elected sheriff, she is dropped feet first into her new job with the case of a girl gone missing.
There is a little bit of everything in this book. Mystery, parenting a teen who is not being welcomed into her new school, and romance. The author covers it all with a lovable and sassy main character and a writing style that will hold your interest.
I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a new author. This is the first book in the ongoing series, followed by A Good Day for Chardonnay and A Hard Day for a Hangover.
