The Memory Collectors

By Kim Neville

Adult Fiction

Reviewed by Angela-Manitou Branch Administrator

Two very different women have the unique gift of being able to feel emotions that have been left on objects by their previous owners.  Harriet sees this ability as a gift, while Ev thinks it a curse, and with good reason as we'll see as the story unfolds.  They each thought they were the only ones who had this ability, so when they meet, they are distrustful of each other.  However, they enter into an uneasy working relationship when Ev agrees to help Harriet sort the thousands of 'treasures' she has hoarded for years.  Her idea is to open a museum so people can feel the love in the cherished objects she has collected.  But Ev soon realizes that not all of Harriet's treasures are benign.  Doubting Harriet's motives, and feeling Harriet has not told her the whole story of her life, Ev starts delving into Harriet's world to find the truth, at great danger to herself.

The author skillfully intertwines the back stories of these two women with lots of excitement, surprises, twists and turns, with a healthy dose of magic thrown in for good measure.  I guarantee you won't guess the ending!
