The Radium Girls

By Kate Moore

Junior Non-Fiction

Reviewed by Michelle from the Altona Branch

The Radium Girls is the incredible true story of the women who eagerly worked with radium, a newly discovered element.  Radium was used for its illuminating power to paint watch dials, among other things. Daily exposure to this radioactive element caused severe illness and in some cases death.

I had never known this history and was enthralled to learn about it through this book.  Could not put it down!
